The Precision Series Tier1 Calcite Backwashing Whole House Filtration System uses neutralizing media to raise the pH of acidic water. Acidic water corrodes pipes and appliances, reducing their service lives. Neutral pH levels reduce corrosives, which protects fixtures, pipes and appliances by reducing the potential of copper, lead and other metals leaching into drinking water. The Precision Series Tier1 Calcite Backwashing Whole House Filtration System provides 3-5 years of service with one easy to install tank for a family of 1-6 people, based on water usage. It is ideal for medium to larger homes, condominiums, and offices. Protect every drop with a Tier1 system today!

Raising the pH of Your Water

Highly acidic water corrodes piping and plumbing at a faster rate than more balanced pH water. By having a system like this which raises the alkalinity of your water you are taking a preemptive approach to protecting your home and plumbing. The action of protecting your plumbing also helps reduce the amount of contaminants that would otherwise leach into your drinking water. Deliver clean and clear more alkaline water to every room in your home with Tier1.

High Quality Media Blend

This system utilizes a mixture of both calcium carbonate and and magnesium oxide, two neutralizing agents that will raise the pH level of your water while not producing a solution that becomes predominantly basic. In the system, this media blend will sit on top of a fine gravel support bed, backwashing will ensure that the bed wont become packed and keeps the system running at a high service rate. These two media sources will deplete with use, depending on the acidity of the water and the frequency of backwash cycles, and will need to be replenished or replaced after the filter life of the system has been reached.

How Backwashing Filters Work

Backwashing is a process which reverses the flow of water to rinse and resettle the media of the tank to prevent channeling, retain the effectiveness of the media, and remove trapped contaminants. To begin the backwash process, water flow is reversed and sent down the riser tube which normally carries the filtered water out of the tank. The water entering the media tank actually lifts the media bed, swirling it and lifting contaminants trapped in the media upward, this water is then funneled out the drain line. This process of cleansing the filter media usually lasts for around 10 minutes. Following the backwash phase there is a rinse cycle which replicates the normal flow of water through the media, this rinses the media again and allows it to settle into its serviceable position. With the media resettled and cleansed, water filtration may resume.
