The Eco Series Tier1 Whole House Carbon and KDF + UV Water Purification System is a whole home solution for average to large size homes, condominiums, and offices. This system includes a sediment pre-filter, a carbon and KDF media blend tank, and a UV disinfection system to complete the filtering process. As a point of entry system the Eco series delivers fresh filtered water to every room of your home all from one centralized filtering location. With a small floor plan footprint the system can be easily installed by the main water feed line without taking up much space. The Eco Series Tier1 Whole Home Carbon and KDF Water Purification System reduces sediment, herbicides, pesticides, and chlorine taste and odor along with a majority of microorganisms and small alloy particles using its carbon and KDF media blend. UV light treatment rounds out the filtering process to ensure you are receiving top quality water. Tier1 is ready to protect every drop.

KDF Media Advantages and Benefits

KDF (Kinetic Degradation Fluxion) media is a copper-zinc formulation blend that is highly effective at reducing chlorine, lead, mercury, iron, and hydrogen sulfide from your water. Typically used as pre-treatment or as a primary treatment method, KDF media delivers a superior filtration performance compared to traditional carbon exclusive treatment. The process works by exchanging electrons with contaminants in order to change them into less problematic, harmless components. In the case of chlorine, an electronic is picked up from the KDF media to turn the chlorine into chloride, a more stable ion generally present in salt. For hydrogen sulfide, the copper loses an electron and the sulfur gains an electron to form copper sulfide and water. Insoluble copper sulfide can then be backwashed from the KDF media. Invest in a system which provides effective chlorine and heavy metal reduction with Tier1.

Ultraviolet Light (UV) Filtration

Ultraviolet light is a water treatment option that is highly effective at reducing bacteria and viruses from your water. UV light deactivates the DNA of bacteria and viruses as they flow through the UV chamber, effectively removing their ability to multiply and reproduce, therefore treating the root of the threat they would normally pose to your health. This is a preferable treatment option for reducing bacteria and viruses as it doesn't introduce more chemicals and their byproducts into your water and even effectively reduces the microorganisms which are chlorine-resistant. UV treatment does not filter other contaminants such as heavy metals and chlorine but, as the final step of this whole home system, provide the necessary final step for complete home water protection.

Importance of Pre-Filtration

Pre-filtration is a wise move for whole home solution systems as it filters out particles that would otherwise clog up the following systems. Usually in the form of sediment filters such as polypropylene and pleated media or as carbon block filters, these pre-filters offer a primary layer of defense to help extend the life of whole home systems and filter out larger particles. This layer of defense is fairly standard on reverse osmosis systems and softeners as it is advised to protect these systems but even if you don't have this equipment, whole home housings and filters effectively reduce the amount of dirt, sediment, and silt that would flow through your plumbing and affect your water using appliances. Ensure you have the protection your systems and home need with Tier's line of Whole House Cartridge Systems.
