Deionization is the process of removing ions form any particular media. The purpose of removing these ions from your water is to reduce impurities that would make it to your glass or circulate through your home. An example of this process would be the use of ion exchange resin to remove contaminants such as calcium, magnesium, and manganese that would otherwise contribute to the build up of scale. These contaminants are captured by the media due to their respective charges and are then backwashed down the drain during the regeneration cycle. Deionization is an effective contaminant reducing method and can help keep your water more safe for your health and home.
